Outdoor Hike & Bible Study: July 13
OUTDOOR HIKE AND BIBLE STUDY BEING OFFERED
St. Matthew Lutheran Church’s Women of the ELCA is continuing its outdoor hike and Bible study on July 13.
SATURDAY MORNING EXPLORERS will gather in an outdoor setting, with an optional hike as part of the session, to focus on God’s connection to all of creation, and to explore nature, the Bible, and ourselves. The Bible studies and hikes will be led by Jane Fagans and Hannah Knauss.
The second session will be held at Trough Creek State Park, on Saturday, July 13, 2013. We will leave the church parking lot at 8:00 a.m. The Bible Study and optional walk/hike will begin at 9:00 a.m. We will leave o/a 10:15 a.m. to return home.
The theme for the June Bible Study is "Finding God." The Bible verses are:
Exodus 3: 1-6
John 1: 1-5
Colossians 1: 15-20
Acts 17: 24-28
The Bible study themes are based on the NRSV The Green Bible Trail Guide Study Series. Hikes will be on easy trails; the distance hiked will be determined by the group. Those who do not wish to hike are still encouraged to attend. A more challenging trail will also be available to any who might be interested.
As the weather can be unpredictable, dress appropriately. It is always best to layer clothing so that you are prepared for both cooler and warmer temperatures. Bring a jacket or raincoat and a hat if you prefer. Whether or not you plan to hike, wear comfortable and appropriate shoes. There are covered picnic pavilions available if it is raining. It might be a good idea to bring along a folding/lawn chair.
Continental breakfast items will be served. Hot and cold beverages will be available as well. You are welcome to bring your own thermos if you like.
Please sign-up on the registration sheet posted on the bulletin board or call the church office at 793-2413 if you plan to attend. Questions? Call Jane Fagans.
