October 7: Blanket Sunday

October 7 at St. Matthew will be a very special Sunday. First, it is World Communion Sunday, when churches across the nation celebrate the joy of the Eucharist. To help mark that occasion, St. Matthew will be holding a prayer vigil throughout the preceding Saturday (10/6).

This coming Sunday is also Blanket Sunday, when we celebrate our wonderful ministry of sewing and tying blankets for the poor around the world. A "blessing of the blankets" will take place during worship. In addition, we will be blessed to be joined by Chandler Carriker, an ELCA Associate in Ministry who serves as Lutheran World Relief’s Congregational Resources Specialist. Chandler will preach at our 10:30 service and will host an adult Sunday School forum at 9:15 to discuss the work of LWR. Our Senior High students are also invited to participate in that discussion.
