Criminal Justice Forum, Sunday 9/30
St. Matthew is sponsoring a Criminal Justice Forum in Fellowship Hall here at the church on Sunday, September 30 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. NO Reservations are needed.
In March, the ELCA published a draft social statement on Criminal Justice, for review by members, congregations and synods. The task force is seeking comments and feedback on that social statement as they form the final draft to be considered at the 2013 ELCA Churchwide Assembly.
This forum is so that our members and other congregations in the Allegheny Synod have an opportunity to discuss the Criminal Justice Social Statement. A panel of criminal justice professionals has been formed to provide insight and offer real-life issues they encounter in their work. The Panel participants are:
The Honorable Jolene Grubb Kopriva, President Judge, Blair County Court of Common Pleas
Amy Garner Carpenter, Attorney, Neighborhood Legal Services, Pittsburgh
Warren Crilly, Attorney, Grabill and Seelye
Patrick Snyder, State Trooper, Pennsylvania State Police
Dr. David Ellis, one of the Statement's drafters.
We look forward to seeing you this Sunday for this important time of conversation and discussion.
