“Songs of the Civil War” Coming to St. Matthew
The 1860’s will come alive again in Martinsburg as “Music Gettysburg!” travels to St. Matthew Lutheran Church for a program of song entitled “Songs of the Civil War.” The concert will be held on Sunday, June 16 at 4 pm and will feature the acclaimed baritone voice of Wayne Hill, who will be accompanied by pianist Michael Matsinko. The Rev. Dr. Gerald Christianson, Emeritus Professor of Religious History at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, will provide narration.
Songs include O Freedom, Tenting Tonight, The Battle Cry of Freedom, and the Battle Hymn of the Republic. The event is free to the public and will be held in the sanctuary at St. Matthew.
